How DivorceCare works
We guide you, step by step, through the whole process of starting and running a successful group. Here’s what you can expect after you order your DivorceCare kit.
Here’s what happens after you
Order your kit1Receive your kit and a welcome call
A few days after your kit arrives, you’ll receive a call from one of our DivorceCare consultants welcoming you to the ministry.
Our consultants are seasoned DivorceCare leaders who are experienced in running successful DivorceCare ministries. They’ll help you get set up and answer any questions you have. There is never a charge for you to talk with a DivorceCare consultant.
2View the “Watch me first” video
and read the Leader’s Guide
Take 5 minutes to watch the “Watch me first” video that you’ll find on DVD Disc 1.
Start reading through the Leader’s Guide in preparation for launching the ministry.
3Assemble your team and watch
the Leader Training Video
You’ll need at least two leaders to start a group. The Leader’s Guide will show you how to identify potential leaders in your congregation and provide you with resources for recruiting them.
Once you’ve selected your team members, watch the Leader Training Video together and begin planning the launch of your DivorceCare group.
4Set your dates and publicize
Work with your church staff to set dates for your group, then start publicizing! (If you can, get someone else to help with promotion.) Hang posters, pass out brochures, put an announcement in the church bulletin, show one of our video promos during church services, and post a listing for your group on our website. We even provide professionally produced ads you can use in area publications and on the web.

Workbook
Group members receive a workbook to help them sort their thoughts and emotions and help them discover what God says about their situation. The workbook contains a daily Bible study, weekly journal, a gospel presentation, and tear-out Scripture cards.
Video
Participants view a 30–40 minute video featuring the insights of the Christian community’s top divorce recovery experts and the stories, reflections, and advice of those who’ve healed from divorce or separation.
Group discussion
You will facilitate discussion using the discussion questions from the Leader’s Guide. Group members will share about what they’ve seen in the video, explain how their daily DivorceCare workbook exercises are helping them see their situation from God’s perspective, and share the challenges they’re facing and victories they’re experiencing.
6Celebrate, debrief as a team,
rest up, and set your next dates
Celebrate leading your first cycle of DivorceCare! Gather feedback from your team on how things went and share your experiences with your church staff and with other DivorceCare leaders in our online community.
Give your team some time off, but don’t forget to schedule your next cycle. DivorceCare is typically run three times a year: fall, spring, and summer.
